In the summer of 1995, a group of urban pioneers, in what was then considered a sketchy neighborhood on the edge of downtown Kansas City, decided to show that there was beauty and life in Union Hill by inviting folks to come and have a look at the gardens they had carefully and lovingly cultivated at their homes.

Today Union Hill has become a highly desirable place to live, whether you rent or own, and our annual garden tour regularly attracts more than 500 visitors who enjoy the day, visit the food trucks, listen to some great music, enjoy buying from local vendors and visit gardens throughout our community.

This year's Union Hill Garden Tour will be held Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 10am to 3pm, and it will be bigger and better than ever!

Our friends at Union Cemetery have announced that in conjunction with the Garden Tour, they will be offering both small group History Tours and Tree Tours on this schedule:

  • 10am and noon: Union Cemetery Tree Tours - lead by a certified Arborist!

  • 11am and 1pm: Union Cemetery History Tours - lead by one of our noted historians. NOTE: as of May 16, the 11am History Tour is SOLD OUT!

These tours are small - limited to just 20 people on each tour - so if you want to add one to your visit to the Gardens of Union Hill, then be sure to get them as soon as you can as they will sell out!

The Cemetery Tours are $15 per person, so combining that with the Advance purchase discounted price for the Garden tour of $10 means the combo tickets are just $25 per person.

As a past Garden Tour visitor, you know that we do sell most of the tickets for our tour in advance because we offer a discount of 33% off the regular ticket price of $15 (which, unlike the price of eggs and gas) has not changed in several years!

And speaking of gas - this will be the first year you can ride the Kansas City Streetcar to Union Hill for the tour - no fight for a parking space and think of the gas you can save!

There will be multiple live music performances, starting with Kansas City Symphony Musicians at 11am. Kirstie Lynn will start performing at 1230pm and Jack Summers will play at 2pm. Two different food trucks (including a return visit from Happy Belly Food Truck) will be in the neighborhood. And vendors selling hand made products will be located throughout the community.
